Vase “Column of Ash”

This piece stands out for its raw verticality, its dual tones — bare earth and smoke-blackened clay — and its monolithic presence. Once shaped, the pottery is left to dry and harden before undergoing the firing process in a kiln.  Sejnane pottery, a traditional craft from Tunisia, is made using a unique and fascinating process. It starts with the gathering of locally sourced clay, which is then mixed with water to create a workable consistency.  The pottery is molded into various forms like bowls, vases, and plates, with intricate patterns and designs often added by etching or carving the surface.
